[Español] Primer tema: Capacitación

En la ciudad de Quito, el día 18 de marzo de 2011 fue un hito para el proyecto; 12 profesores del CECIB Juan Carlos Peralta celebraron la clausura de un curso de Excel, impartido por José Lim, uno de los coordinadores del proyecto y un  ingeniero informático, voluntario de KOICA. (Detalles sobre el proyecto se puede encontrar en la Introducción al Proyecto Escuelas de las Montañas)

La invitación a la graduación, que se adjunta con una cita de una reconocida  indígena Dolores Cacuango:
"Así como el sol alumbra igualito a todos, hombres o mujeres;
así la educación debe alumbrar a todos sean ricos o pobres, amos o peones."

Cerca de 250 miembros de la comunidad y  líderes asistieron a la clausura, acompañados por varios representantes de las instituciones públicas aliadas al proyecto. El Sr. In-pil Chun, Vice-presidente de KOICA, y la Lcda. María Pichazaca, Directora Nacional de la DINEIB, también participaron en este certamen con donaciones de cuyes para el proyecto de creación de microempresas.

El programa incluyó actividades culturales como la danza folclórica ecuatoriana y una demostración de Taekwondo
El curso de Excel para profesores fue una introducción básica a la informática con hojas de cálculo. Al finalizar el curso, los profesores recibieron un certificado expedido por el Ministerio de Educación y KOICA, herramientas necesarias para la eficacia en la escuela  y en sus carreras personales en el futuro.

Actualmente se está planificando un curso de diseño gráfico para los maestros,  para el nuevo semestre a partir de septiembre de 2011.

Capacitación: Contra el desempleo

El proyecto está coordinando con SECAP (Servicio Ecuatoriano de Capacitación Profesional), un proyecto de capacitación para que las personas se puedan insertar en el campo laboral. A través de una reunión comunitaria, se identificaron seis áreas técnicas diferentes de interés para los padres de familia:

154 padres de familia y miembros de la comunidad
con más de 14 años de edad están inscritos en los cursos.
Los coordinadores del proyecto y el equipo de Desarollo Barrial (compuesto por el Presidente del Barrio, el Director de la Escuela, y la Presidenta del Comité de padres de familia) están viendo esto como una gran oportunidad para escapar del círculo vicioso de la pobreza en el Barrio Santa María.

Los seis cursos de SECAP se han diseñado con un propósito: que los participantes puedan iniciar su propio negocio después de la capacitación. Los 165 ~ 470 horas de formación, no sólo preparan al participante para comenzar a trabajar de inmediato, sino que también incluyen alrededor de 60 horas de clases de gestión empresarial y  motivación personal.

Los tres primeros cursos comenzaron el 30 de mayo de 2011, con 53 estudiantes en tres áreas diferentes (panadería, cocina y belleza). Los otros tres cursos (informática, corte y confección y mecánica automotriz) están programadas iniciar en el mes de junio.

El es Santiago, tiene 15 años de edad. Su sueño es abrir una panadería en el barrio, y será capaz de hacer esto con la capaticatión y el apoyo que el gobierno le está dando.

En el Barrio Santa María se ha logrado hoy en dia que las personas que no tenían ninguna capacitación hasta el momento tengan hoy en dia una esperanza de mejorar su nivel de vida, ya que generalmente estas familias ubicadas en las zonas marginales urbanas venden caramelos de forma informal.

지난 2011년 3월 18일 산중학교 프로젝트의 일환으로 KOICA 임지성 단원(Quito, 컴퓨터 분야)이 학교 선생님들을 대상으로 진행하였던 엑셀 수업의 수료식이 있었습니다. (프로젝트에 대한 자세한 사항은 프로젝트 "산중학교(Escuelas de las Montañas)" 포스팅을 참고해 주세요.)

이번 수료식 행사에는 프로젝트에 참여하는 많은 협력 기관 관계자분들과 약 250명의 지역 주민분들이 참가해 주셨습니다. 천인필 KOICA 감사님과 Maria Pichazaca 교육부 DINEIB 부서장님 역시 수료식에 참여해주셨고 Maria Pichazaca 부서장님의 경우 프로젝트의 일환인 꾸이 사육을 통한 소규모 사업 진행을 위해 꾸이(기니피그)를 기증해주셨습니다.

이번 엑셀 수업에서는 스프레드 시트 사용에 관한 소개와 적용 방법에 대하여 선생님들께 교육을 진행하였으며 성공적으로 수업을 수료한 선생님들은 KOICA와 에콰도르 교육부에서 발행한 수료증을 받았습니다. 이를 통해 학교에서의 행정 업무 등과 각 선생님들의 개인적 업무 소양에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.

 또한 이번 Excel 수업 이외에도 새로운 학기가 시작되는 2011년 9월부터는 선생님들을 대상으로 한 그래픽 디자인 수업을 계획하고 있습니다.

직업 교육: "실업" 악순환의 고리를 끊기 위해

이와 다른 사항으로 에콰도르 정부 산하 직업 교육 기관인 SECAP과 연계하여 진행 중인 지역 주민 대상 직업 교육 프로젝트가 있습니다. 현재 지역 주민들의 의견을 모아 직업 교육을 위한 6개 분야의 강좌를 정하였고 이를 실시 혹은 준비 중에 있습니다:

수업에 등록하였습니다.
현재 프로젝트 진행팀은 지역 동장, 학교 교장, 학부모 회장 등으로 이루어진 지역 개발 팀과 함께 이번 SECAP과 연계하고 있는 프로젝트를 산타마리아 지역 주민들이 가진 가난의 악순환을 끊을 좋은 기회로 보고 있습니다. 그 결과 궁극적으로는 어려운 환경에서 고통을 받는 많은 학생들에게 좋은 교육 환경을 제공할 수 있을 것이라 보고 있습니다.
SECAP에서 제공하고 있는 6개의 강좌들을 통해 우리는 하나의 목표을 이루고자 합니다. 이 목표는 각 수업의 수강생들이 직업 교육 이후 자신의 사업을 시작할 수 있도록 하는 것입니다. 이를 위해 각 강좌당 165시간에서 470시간까지의 수강 시간에는 수강생들의 직업 교육 뿐만 아니라 약 60시간의 사업 관리 및 동기 부여를 위한 교육도 포함되어 진행될 것입니다.

이 프로젝트의 첫 수업은 2011년 5월 30일 3개 분야 강좌 53명의 학생들과 함께 처음 시작되었습니다. 나머지 분야의 강좌들은 6월 중에 시작될 예정이며 모든 강좌는 이번 년도 내에 완료하는 것으로 예정되어 있습니다.

미용 관련 수업을 통해서 수강생들은 미용 및 화장 등에 대해 전문적인 교육을 받게 될 것입니다.

많은 지역 주민들은 보통 직장을 가질 수 있는 자격 요건을 충분히 갖추지 못했기 때문에 이번 기회로 이를 해결할 수 있다는 희망을 가지고 있습니다. 보통 도시 외곽에 거주하는 저소득층 가족의 경우 버스에서 사탕을 파는 등의 일만을 가질 수 밖에 없습니다.

March 18, 2011 was a milestone for the project as the 12 teachers of Juan Carlos Peralta celebrated their graduation from an Excel course taught by Joe Lim, one of our main project coordinators and a computer engineer from KOICA. (Details about the project can be found in the Introduction to Project Escuelas de las Montañas)

The invitation to the Graduation, attached with a quote from a famous Indigenous scholar Dolores Cacuango:
"Just as the sun shines on everyone--men and women;
so should education enlighten everyone--the rich and the poor,
the masters and the laborers."

About 250 community members and leaders attended the graduation, accompanied by various representatives of collaborating institutions. Mr. In-pil Chun, Vice-president of KOICA, and Dr. Maria Pichazaca, National Director of Bilingual Schools, also took part in the festivity by giving donations of cuy (guinea pigs) for our cuy-microenterprise project.

The program included cultural activities such as Ecuadorian folk dance and a Taekwondo demonstration

The Teachers' Excel course was a basic introduction to computing with spreadsheets. At the end of the course, the teachers received a Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education and KOICA, which will help their effectiveness in the school in the present and their personal careers in the future.

A graphic design course for the teachers is being planned for the new semester starting September 2011.


Job Training: Against the vicious cycle of unemployment

On a different note, the project has partnered with SECAP (Ecuadorian Services for Professional Training), a Government-run employment training project. Through a community gathering, we identified six different areas of interest for the students' parents: 
A total of 154 parents and community members
over 14 years of age are registered for the courses.

The project coordinators and the Neighborhood Development Team (comprised of the District-Community President, School Principal, and the PTA President) are seeing this as a great opportunity for the members of Barrio Santa Maria to escape the vicious cycle of poverty within the neighborhood, resulting in a better learning environment for many students who suffer from malnutrition.

The six courses offered by SECAP are designed with one purpose: that the participants would be able to start their own business after the training, The 165~470 hour extensive training not only prepares the participant to begin working right away, but it also includes around 60 hours of business management and personal motivation classes.

The first of eight classes started on May 30, 2011, with 53 students in three different subjects. The other five classes are scheduled to start in the month of June, for all of them to be finished before the end of the year.

This is Santiago. He is 15 years old. His dream is to open a bakery in the neighborhood,
and he will be able to do just that with the training and the support the government gives him.

Through the Cosmetology class, the ladies will graduate
knowing how to give haircuts and do professional makeup.

The neighborhood is stirring in hope as many do not have any qualifications to work outside of home.
Usually, families in the urban marginal areas end up selling candies on buses.
